Sunland Park Mall

This is the main event of the week-long #EPSpaceFestival. New this year will be our interactive Experience Zones where you can learn about space and astronomy through dozens of hands-on activities, prizes, space art, and makerspace crafts. Chat with local space professionals to learn about space careers in El Paso and share your thoughts about space exploration. Toiletries donations will be accepted onsite and distributed by the Elks Lodge #187

2) White Sands Full Moon Night

Tuesday, September 21st, 7am – 10pm

White Sands National park

Grab your friends, family, pets, sleds, and picnic to view the full moon from one of the most beautiful landscapes on our planet during White Sands Full Moon Night. Park closing times will be extended to allow you to view the full moon from the dunes. On these nights, there will be no programs or concerts for the summer of 2021, but the entire dunes area will be open to explore under the full moon. Don’t forget to complete your night sky bingo card while out at the dunes.

3) Nerd Night: Contact

Wednesday, September 22nd, 6:30PM – 9:30PM

Alamo Drafthouse, East El Paso

Why are we here? Are we alone? What does it all mean? The blockbuster movie Contact, starring a young Jodie Foster, is arguably one of the more inspirational movies to address these questions. Join us at the Alamo Drafthouse for a special viewing of this cult classic and a discussion with keynote speaker Dr. Andrew Maynard, Associate Dean, College of Global Futures, Arizona State University. Did you know this movie was filmed right in our own backyard? This event will also feature a chat with representatives from the Very Large Array in Socorro, New Mexico.

4) Star Party

Thursday, September 23nd, 7:00PM – 9:30PM

Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site

Insights, the Sun City Astronomers, and Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site are hosting an evening of a fun night of stargazing and astronomy talks!  Feel free to bring your own camp chairs, telescopes, and non-alcoholic beverages for a beautiful evening under the stars at Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site. Free hot chocolate will be available.
